2010 Census Information

During March, all households in America will receive census forms via U.S. mail as part of the United States Census –– a count of everyone living in this country –– that is undertaken every 10 years. The information collected in this survey is the basis for distribution of more than $400 billion per year in federal funds and for determining representation in local, state, and national governments. The federal funds are dispersed for education and healthcare as well as public transportation and road projects, and a wide range of community improvements.  Click the links to read a letter to learn more about the census in either English or Spanish.

Reported Incident
Please click for the text of a letter concerning an incident the morning of Monday, 15 March.  A copy of the letter was sent home with students.  No one was harmed.  More information will be provided as it becomes available.

The new changes allow parents/guardians to self-identify their child’s ethnicity and race, and permits more than one race to be selected.
PARENTS (not students) need to fill the form out.
If the forms are not completed by parents/guardians, then a staff member will observe and select racial and ethnic categories on the student’s behalf.
Please return them to the school by Friday, 19 March.
